ONE DAY NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP

“A CRITICAL ANALYSIS ON COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY & TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS”

The Department of Manovijnana Avum Manasaroga at SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi, successfully organized Samalochana 2025, a National level workshop on May 2, 2025. The event focused on the critical analysis of Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) and Transactional analysis (TA) and was attended by 122 delegates, comprising of postgraduate scholars and faculty members from colleges both within Karnataka and other states, reflecting the academic significance of the event.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.Mamatha K.V., Principal of the institution along with other dignitaries. Importance of maintaining the psychological status of patients with chronic diseases and also their caretakers was stressed in her presidential address.  Dr. Vijayendra G. Bhat, Chief organizing secretary, did welcome address and keynote address.

The first scientific session was conducted by Dr. Paulomi M. Sudhir on CBT. It provided an in-depth overview of CBT principles, techniques, and its evidence based application in clinical settings. A live demonstration was a key highlight, offering participants a rare opportunity to observe therapeutic process in action.

Second session was carried out by Dr. Prasanna Hegde presenting on TA. Through real life examples, role plays and audience participation, he demonstrated how TA can enhance both therapeutic interaction and everyday communication. Dr. Veerakumara K, Dr. Shrilatha Kamath T, Dr. Ashok Kumar B.N , Dr. Nagraj S, Dr. K.R. Ramachandra, Dr.Shrikanth,  Dr.Raviprasad Hegde, Dr. Chaithra were present in the programme.

The event report was presented by Dr. Dhaneshwari H.A and vote of thanks by Dr. Punith P. Samalochana 2025 proved to be an enriching academic experience, offering both theoretical depth and practical tools to professional and students in the field of mental health.
