Yoga Day
Shri DharmasthalaManjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda Udupi in collaboration with IQAC, Department of Swasthavritta and National Service Scheme celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21.06.2023 in the college. Under the eminent guidance of Principal Dr. Mamata K.V. several activities were conducted. On the occasion of International Day of Yoga from 14.06.23 to 21-06-2023 Yoga Saptaha (7 days Yoga training) programme was organized for the students of Hindu Higher Primary School Udyavara. On 21st of June, the programme started with yoga practice by students from 6:00 am. On the same occasion, Yoga demonstration and e-poster competition was organized for the students.
Dr. Nithin Patil, Associate Professor – Center for Integrative Medicine & Research (CIMR) – Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal -who was the chief guest of the programme delivered a guest lecture on the topic “Yoga for promotion of health”. As Yoga is the India’s gift to the world, he called upon the students to adopt yoga in daily life. He explained the importance of Yoga in daily life. During this occasion Dr. Nagaraj S, Medical Superintendent of SDM Ayurveda Hospital spoke about the relevance and importance of Ayurveda & Yoga in his presidential address. He said that Ayurveda and Yoga are helpful in preventing physical and mental disorders.
Dr. Vijay B. Negalur, Head, Department of Swasthavritta spoke about the theme of IDY 2023- VasudaivaKutumbakam. Dr. Yogeesh Acharya, Associate Professor – delivered welcome address. Dr. SrinidhiDhanya, Assistant Professor – read the report of Yoga Saptaha and Competitions. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Dr. Sandesh Kumar, Associate Professor- was the master of the ceremony. Dr. Sowmya Bhat, Assistant Professor proposed vote of thanks. The student welfare officers of the college Dr. Shrilatha Kamath (Dean Academics), Dr. Veerakumar K. (Dean Administration), Dr. Ashok (Dean PG and PhD Studies) were present in the programme.
