Children’s Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at SDM college of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Center, Kuthpady Udupi in association with Himalaya Wellness Company on November 14, 2024 at Bhavaprakasha auditorium of the college between 2-5pm.More than 250 people including parents and children from various parts of Udupi actively participated the event.

Dr.Usha Devadas, Head of Department of Speech and Hearing, Manipal College of Health Professions, addressed the  gathering on the topic “ Beleyuva Chinnaralli Matina Samasye Hagu Pariharagalu- Poshakarige Kivimatu “ in Kannada as resource person . She explained various symptoms to make early detection of speech problem in children including symptoms of Autism, ADHD, dyslexia etc with video demonstrations. She gave massage to the parents that the mingling of child with social communities is essential to so solve the speech problems. They should never be isolated in homes and nagged instead a lovable, encouraging, empathetic environment can solve the speech problems in children. She also said that early detection and taking speech therapy from experts will lead to early development of speech.  Dr.Mamata K.V., Principal SDM college of Ayurveda Hospital and Research Center, Kuthpady,  Udupi, president of the function greeted the children and  advised the parent to follow the instructions given by the speaker to mainstream the children suffering from speech related issues. Mr. Naveen Varma, Zonal Manager, Himalaya Wellness Company, Zenith Division was the Chief guest of the function.

On this occasion Fancy Dress competition, Drawing competition, Healthy Baby competitions were conducted for children from 6months to 10yrs in different categories.  The children got the platform to showcase their talents on the occasion of Children’s Day which was celebrated and awarded with prizes and certificate. All participants received participation certificates and attractive toys. The concept of Healthy Baby and Swarnaprashana was promoted. The facilities available for the general public from the department of Kaumarabhritya was promoted through videos and displays.   The winners of the competition were as follows. Rinza Shazleen, Avani, Sathkrithi bagged I,II,III prizes in Healthy Baby Competition -Category I( 6months – 1year), Sadhvi Upadyaya, Ananya Shenoy, Divith Deepak won  I,II,III prizes in Healthy Baby Competition -Category II(1year – 2years), Divith V, Grace Sanvi Vimal, Nila Gokulan received I,II,III prizes in Healthy Baby Competition -Category III ( 2 – 3yrs) respectively. Similarly, Mohammad Hidash, Shounith George, Varanavi bagged I, II,III prizes and Dharan Sacheil, Samprit received Consolation prizes in Fancy dress competition respectively. In Drawing competition Amardeep, Tejaswini, Pavani won I,II,III prizes respectively.

Dr. Nagaraj .S., Medical Superintendent, SDMCAHRC, Udupi, Dr. Ashok .B.N., Dean Pg, Ph.D. Studies, SDMCAHRC, Udupi, also graced the occasion. Dr.Prathviraj Puranik, Chief organizing secretory, Head of Dept.Of Kaumarabhritya,  SDMCAHRC, Udupi, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sahana Shankari, Associate Professor, Dept.Of Kaumarabhritya  SDMCAHRC, Udupi, Co-ordinated the program, Dr.Kavya, Assistant Professor, Dept.Of Kaumarabhritya  SDMCAHRC, Udupi conducted Drawing competition. Dr Chitralekha, Assistant Professor, Dept.Of Kaumarabhritya  SDMCAHRC, Udupi, conducted Fancy dress competition. Dr.Lakshmi, Dr.Aishwarya third year PG Scholar, sung the prayer, Dr.Partibha, third year PG Scholar,  Dept. of Kaumarabhritya  SDMCAHRC, Udupi  did the master of ceremony and Dr.Kavya, did the vote of thanks.
