Department of PG studies in Samhita Siddhantha and Samskrita of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Udupi organized Charaka Samhita Udayastamana Parayana on 22nd August, 2023 on account of Charaka Jayanti. The concept of recitation of Charaka Samhita shloka from Sunrise to Sunset was initiated in year 2022. The program was inaugurated at 5.30 am by Dr. Shrinivas Hejamady Acharya, Professor Emiretus, All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi in the presence of Dr. Mamata KV, Principal, Dr. Nagraj, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ashok Kumar B N, Dean, PG and PhD studies, Dr. Vidyalakshmi K, Prof and Head, Department of Samhita Siddhanta and Samskrita, SDMCAH, Udupi. The recitation began at 6.15 am with Ashwini Mantra Parayana by undergraduate students. Later the recitation was continued by all batches of Undergraduate, Postgraduate students and faculties of various departments covering Nidana Stana, Vimana Stana, Shareera Stana, Indriya Stana and partly Kalpa Stana and Siddhi Stana. Breakfast, Lunch and Panaka were arranged in the campus to avoid break during the session. The recitation was coordinated by Dr. Shrinidhi Dhanya, Assistant professor, Dept of Swasthavritta, Dr. Arhanth Kumar, Associate Professor, Dr. Dhanashree, Assistant Professor, Dept of Samhita Siddhanta and Samskrita and it constantly continued till 6 pm. Valedictory program began by 6.10 pm by doing Mangala Arathi. Dr. Mahalakshmi M S, Assistant Professor, Dept of Samhita Siddhanta and Samskrita welcomed the gathering. dr. Likhita D N, Associate Professor, Dept of Samhita Siddhanta and Samskrita presened brief report of the program. Students gave valuable feedback and expressed gratitude for conduction of program. Chief guest of the program Dr. Shubha, Associate Professor, Dept of Samhita Siddhanta and Samskrita, Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences, Manipal along with addressed the students and conveyed the importance of Samhita Pathana. Dr. Nagraj S, Medical Superintendent advised to continue the Samhita reading practice. The program was presided by Principal, Dr. Mamata K V. Dr. Vidyalakshmi K presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Pallavi Hegde and Dr. Shikha Sahore compered for the program. All department PGs and 4th year UG students helped in organising the program.
