Vanamahotsava Saptaha was organized and celebrated by the NSS, Department of Dravyaguna Vigyana, and Campus Enrichment Committee of SDM College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Kuthpady, Udupi from 17-7-2023 to 22-7-2023. The week-long celebration aimed to create awareness about the importance of trees and medicinal plants in our environment. On 17-07-2023, the program was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Mamatha. KV and Medical Superintendent Dr. Nagaraj.S.Garcinia morella and Shorea robusta plants were planted by the dignitaries.PG scholars prepared saplings of Bakula, Asana, Putranjeeva, Kanchanara.Aati Kashaya, a medicinal herbal drink, was distributed to patients and students.Awareness was raised about the significance of Aati Amavasya, Saptaparna Kashaya, and their medicinal properties. Dr.Thejaswi was co-ordinated the event.

On 18-07-2023, Plantation of 5 saplings of Nimba, Ashoka, and Papaya was done. Dr. Mohammad Faisal explained the medicinal uses of certain plants in the school herbal garden. Dr. Shrikanth. P, HOD of the Department of Dravyaguna, appreciated the efforts of the school staff and children in maintaining the herbal garden at SVSS School, Katpadi. Dr.Vidyalakshmi coordinated the event.

On 19-07-2023, Plantation of more than 25 medicinal plants like Shigru, Guduchi, Agnimantha, Chitraka, Samberballi, Vasa, Nirgundi, Lemongrass, Kalamegha, Mandukaparni, etc., was done. Dr. Ravikrishna created awareness among students about the usage of different medicinal plants present in the vicinity at Morarji Desai Residential School, Aroor, Bhramhavara. Dr.Suma V Mallya explained the importance of cultivation of medicinal plants. Dr. Poornima & Pg scholars of Dravyaguna Department were involved in the event.

On 20-07-2023, Plantation of 2 Nimba saplings was done in Amruta vana, SDMCA, Udupi. Dr.Vidya Ballal, Dr.Poornima& DrShreyashree coordinated the event.

On 21-07-2023, Plantation of more than 25 medicinal plants like Shigru, Guduchi, Agnimantha, Chitraka, Samberballi, Vasa, Nirgundi, Lemongrass, Kalamegha, Mandukaparni, etc., was done. Dr. Yogeesh Acharya explained the details about the usage of medicinal plants at JNV Residential School, Chara, Hebri. Dr.Suma V Mallya&  Dr.Thejaswi  co-ordinated the event.

On 22-07-2023, Plantation of medicinal plants used in Panchakarma therapy like Vasa, Nirgundi, and Agnimantha was done at Panchakarma vana, SDMCA, and Hospital, Udupi.

Dr.Sudheendra Moharer, Dr.Shrinidhi Dhanya, Dr.M.Faisal coordinated the event. The Vanamahotsava Saptaha celebration was a successful event that aimed to promote the importance of trees and medicinal plants in our environment. The participation of students, scholars, and staff members in the plantation drives and awareness sessions contributed to the success of the event.
