WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY – 2021
Herb Garden committee in collaboration with the Department of PG and PhD studies in DravyagunaVijnana , Youth red cross wing and NSS Unit celebrated World Environment Day – 2021 on 05-06-2021with the theme “Reimagine, Recreate, Restore” and ecosystem restoration. President of the function DR Nagaraj S Medical superintendent SDMAHU educated the students regarding the ecosystem restoration by preventing, halting and reversing the damage caused by mankind over the past year and significance of maintaining healthy ecosystem for betterment of manhood. Dr Mamatha K V principal addressed the gathering by explaining the main motto of this program is to create awareness of the exploitation and harm that has been unleashed on nature and encourage the people to do their bit in order to save mother nature. Chief guest of the program Mr Joseph G M Rebello ; District Rajyotsava Award Winning State Resource Person enlightened the students by speaking on the topic “ Human modern activities are the cause of water scarcity” and emphasized there is severe decline in both the quality and quantity of water, protection, restoration of water resources remains still insufficient, ineffective; therefore focus should be given to rain water harvesting along with intensive afforestation. Dr. Vidhyalaxmi convener NSS unit welcomed the audience. Dr Suma V Mallya, Convener, Herb garden committee briefly explained the purpose of world environment day in keynote address.Dr Srikanth P., Prof and HOD Dept. of DravyagunaVijnana announced the winners name of essay competition which was conducted on account world environment day. Dr.Mohammed Faisal, coordinator Youth red cross Wing concluded the program with vote of thanks. DR Sushmitha compered the session. All II BAMS students and PG scholars participated in the seminar including faculty members.The program was synchronized by Dr Tejaswi Naik, member Herb garden committee and Dr Srinidhi Dhanya, DrSaritha member NSS unit of the College.
