As per the request from SVS English Medium School, Katapady, NSS Unit of our Institution has organized Vanamahotsava in association with Herb Garden Committee, Rotary Club, Katapady on 16/08/2021 Monday 3pm to 4.30pm. This was the continuation of Vanamahotsava conducted in the last year on developing herb garden in the school campus. Medicinal plants of endangered species like Ashoka, Punnaga, Nirgundi, Sariva etc were planted in the school garden. Rotary club President, Secretary, members of SVS Vidyavardhaka Sangha, PTA members of the school, Head Master Sri. Devendra Nayak, all the teachers, non-teaching staff of the school were present on the occasion. From our Institution, Dr. Vidyalakshmi K – NSS Program Officer, Dr. Suma Mallya – Herb Garden Committee Head have taken the lead for the program, and briefed the medicinal uses of the plants and importance of preserving them for the balance of ecosystem. NSS Volunteers, Manjunath, Arihanth and Dr. Lekhan have taken the responsibility of shifting and planting the saplings safely. It was also observed that out of 15 plants of last year, 13 plants are growing and are reared by the school very nicely. Hence, the team has planned to accept the request from the school for the same in future also.
