The Department of Shalakya Tantra of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi has organized a one-day Mathrushree Rathnamma Memorial National seminar “UNMEELANAM 2026” – Exploring Systemic Insights In Shalakya – Eye and ENT Practice on 14-02-2026.

Inaugural Ceremony:

Chief guest Dr. Sanjay K.S., Dean Faculties, ISM, RGUHS (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences), Bengaluru, and Principal of Kundapura Ayurveda Medical College, inaugurated the program. In his address, he explained the objectives, significance, and the importance of scientific discussions “UNMEELANAM – 2026” seminar at National level.

The program was presided by the Principal Dr. Mamatha K.V., in her presidential address emphasized the scope of Research in Shalakya Tantra and its value and application in day today life.

On this occasion, a e-souvenir titled “Indriya Prakasha” of research abstracts from the Shalakya Tantra Department was released. Dr. Nagaraj S., Medical Superintendent, and the Chief Organizing Secretary Dr. Gayathri G. Hegde, were present. Dr. Jayakrishna Nayak, HOD, Shalakya Tantra Department, delivered the welcome address and introductory note. Dr. Sushma Prashanth, Organizing Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.

Scientific sessions were conducted by distinguished resource persons:

• Vaidya M. Prasad, Director, Sunethri Ayurveda Ashram, Thrissur
• Dr. Uday Shankar, Professor, Department of Shalakya Tantra, Alva’s Ayurveda College, Moodbidri
• Dr. Saifuddeen Gurukkal P., Head, Department of Shalakya Tantra, KMCT Ayurveda College, Kerala

A total of 510 delegates from various institutions across the country participated. More than 350 research papers and posters were presented.

Valedictory Ceremony:

At the valedictory ceremony, the Chief Guest, Udupi District AYUSH Officer Dr. Satish Acharya, appreciated the organization for successfully arranging such a program. He praised the institution’s progress and its effective functioning.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Nagaraj S., in his presidential address, expressed his hope that national-level workshops of Shalakya Tantra would continue to be conducted in the future as well and congratulated the prize winners.

Dr. Padmakiran C., Professor, Department of Panchakarma, presented the workshop report. On this occasion, prizes were distributed to delegates who presented the best research papers.

Dr. Sabrinath M.K., Organizing Secretary of the National Workshop, delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Gayathri G. Hegde, Chief Organizing Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr. Shubha P.U., Assistant Professor, Department of Agada Tantra, and Dr. Kavya, Assistant Professor, Department of Kaumarabhritya, compered the program.
