Udupi: The inaugural programme of the pre-conference workshop, organised by SDM College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi, as part of the international conference “Kshamatvam 2026 – Translational Ayurveda in Autoimmune Disorders,” was held on 29/09/2026.
The program was presided over by Dr. Sanjay K.S., Dean of AYUSH, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, and Principal of Kundapura Rural Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital. In his presidential address, Dr. Sanjay K.S. spoke about the academic significance of the conference and the importance of advancing research in Ayurveda. He also orated, ‘Kshamatvam 2026’ conference is expected to provide an important platform for strengthening Ayurvedic knowledge through research, establishing scientific evidence and taking the contributions of Ayurveda to the global healthcare arena.
Principal Dr. Mamatha K.V. stated that large-scale multicentric research is essential to scientifically validate the principles, therapeutic practices and medicines of Ayurveda. Highlighting the significance of the conference, she said there was a need to integrate Ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary research methodologies and scientifically establish its efficacy. She asserted that extensive multicentric studies are necessary for the standardization and validation of Ayurvedic medicines.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Niranjan Rao, Vice-Principal (Clinical), SDM College, underlined the importance of sharing knowledge for the benefit of society. Quoting the Upanishads Mahavakya “Prajnanam Brahma”, he said knowledge should not merely be acquired but also shared with society and passed on to future generations. He stated one of the important objectives of education was to disseminate the knowledge gained through learning and research so that it could contribute to the welfare of society. He emphasized the need to take the rich knowledge of Ayurveda to the global community through systematic research and wider dissemination.

The resource persons included Dr. Ravishankar B, Distinguished Professor, All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi; Dr. N.V. Srivatha, Chief Consultant Physician, Swasthyakshetram Ayurvedic Health Care Centre, Palakkad; Dr. Niranjan Rao, Vice Principal Clinical, SDMCAH&RC, Udupi and Dr. Ajayan Sadanandan, Chairman, Centre for Indian Medical Heritage, Coimbatore.

Dr. Nagaraj S., Vice-Principal–Academic, SDM College, and Kshamatvam conference organizing secretaries Dr. Prasanna N. Mogasale and Dr. Arhant Kumar A. were present.

The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the felicitation of the resource persons.

The program was compered by Dr. Arun Kumar and Dr. Shubha P.U. Dr. Srikanth P., PG Dean and Head and Professor of the Department of Dravyaguna, delivered the vote of thanks.
