Folklore medicine has its root with the environment. The success of treatment is witnessed by its vast usage, under the guidance of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, President, SDM Educational Society ®, Ujire leadership of Dr. Mamatha K.V., Principal SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi.

Folklore medicine research Center, Udupi is working in identifying, recording the folklore practices across the country. As a part of identification center is awarding ‘Janapada Vaidya Siri’ awarded to dedicated practitioners.

The awarding ceremony for 2023 was held on 11/12/2023, in Bhavaprakasha Auditorium, SDMCA, Udupi. Vaidya Sri Kallappa Phakirappa Padishyavige was awarded this year. Vaidya is 80 years of age and having the experience of 60 years. He is treating various ailments including piles, skin diseases, gynecological diseases etc.,

Vaidya Sri Kallappa Phakirappa Padishyavige was felicitated by chief guest Dr. Sathyanarayana Bhat, Retd. Principal, Govt. Ayurveda Medical College, Mysore, Principal Dr. Mamatha K.V., Medical Superintendent Dr. Nagaraj S, Former Principal Dr. K.R. Ramachandra, Retd. Professor Dr. G.M. Kanthi, Dean Administration Dr. Veerakumara K, Dean Academics Dr. Shrilatha Kamath, Dean PG & PhD Studies Dr. Ashok Kumar B.N and UG Dean Dr. Rajaneesh V Giri, on the dias.

Dr. Mamatha K.V. presided the program, Sri Kallappa Phakirappa Padishyavige after receiving the award expressed his happiness and said Ayurveda has bright future.
