Janapada Vaidhya Siri Award – 2024
The Janapada Vaidhya Siri Award, presented annually at the state level under the guidance of our institution’s president and the religious head of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, the highly respected Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, took place on November 29, 2024, at the Bhavaprakash Auditorium of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College, Hospital and Research Centre, Kuthpadi, Udupi.
This year, the award was presented to Sri Krishna Gouda Madlamane, a Janapada Vaidhya from the village of Harsikatta in Siddapur Taluk, Uttara Kannada District. Sri Krishna Gouda, 63 years old, has over 35 years of experience in traditional healing practices and has specialized expertise in treating various ailments such as back pain, general diseases, skin disorders, women’s health issues and infertility. He uses his personally prepared medicines for treatment.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. M.R. Vasudevan Namboodiri, Dr. Mamatha K.V., Principal; Dr. Nagaraj S., Medical Director; Dr. Veerakumar K., Dean Administration; Dr. Srilatha Kamath, Dean Academics, Dr. Ashok Kumar B.N., Dean PG and Phd Studies; and Dr. Rajneesh V. Giri,Dean UG Studies, who all honored the awardee.
The honored Janapada Vaidhya, Sri Krishna Gouda Madlamane expressed his happiness and shared insights about the traditional Janapada style of medicine. He advised the students to trust in Ayurveda, as there will be a growing demand for Ayurvedic practices in the future. Center’s head Dr. Ravikrishna S. invited the awardee to the stage, member Dr. Ravi K.V. introduced the guest and Dr. Sushmita V.S. read the felicitation certificate.
