Inauguration of Students’ Council 2024- 24 was held on 08.08.2024 at Bhavaprakasha Auditorium, S.D.M. College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi. The programme commenced with invocation of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy. Dr. Gananath Shetty Yekkar- Former State NSS Officer and Ex- officio Joint Secretary to Govt. of Karnataka was the chief guest and the dignitaries, Dr. Mamatha K. V.- Principal, Dr. Nagaraj S.- Medical Superintendent, Dr. Shrilatha Kamath- Dean- Academics, Dr. Veera Kumara K. – Dean- Administration, Dr. Ashok Kumar B. N. – Dean- PG & PhD Studies, Dr. Rajneesh V. Giri- Dean- UG accompanied the chief guest along with the office bearers- Mr. Gurugovinda H.U.- President, Students’ Council, Ms. Swasthi N Shetty- General Secretary, Dr. Shikha Sahore- PG Representative and Dr. Kotresh B. M.- PG Representative.

Dr. Gananath Shetty Yekkar stated that the goal of forming a council is for smooth management of college programs. But he also emphasized that revolutionizing society requires internal transformation. Quality leadership among students is crucial, as is cultivating awareness of politics and making judgments free from religious or other biases. Group activities should transcend caste, creed, and financial status, focusing on collective effort and attentiveness to surroundings. To effectively analyze results, one must possess genuine knowledge and continually seek to expand it. This involves understanding various facets such as politics, social, and cultural dynamics, and honing real skills including interpersonal and group communication. Key components of personality development include acquiring knowledge, skills, health, and values. Institutional growth hinges on collective work, and personal development impacts both individual and national progress. He also stated that, effective time management, respect for elders, mindful spending and discipline are essential for instilling these values in future generations.

Principal, Dr. Mamatha K.V. congratulated newly appointed office bearers and entrusted them with the responsibility of embodying and promoting the college’s vision and mission. She affirmed that the leaders must guide the institution towards a productive learning environment, set goals, tackle issues like plastic use, and support sustainability initiatives such as green audits and herbal gardens. Personal and institutional progress should be continuously assessed, strategies must be refined and these contribute in both health sector and success of the college.

The dignitaries were welcomed by Mr. Gurugovinda H.U. The names of newly appointed office bearers of UG and PG Council were announced by Dr Rajneesh V. Giri and Dr. Ashok Kumar B. N. respectively. Dr. Veera Kumara K. executed the oath taking ritual. The former President of students’ council- Ms. Meghana G. K. and General Secretary- Mr. Arun Kankatte handed over the annual reports of the year 2023-24 to the newly appointed President- Mr. Gurugovinda H.U. and General Secretary- Ms. Swasthi N Shetty followed by distribution of council badges by dignitaries. Mr. Gurugovinda H.U. shared the council’s plan for the year 2024- 25.

Ms. Swasthi N Shetty conveyed vote of thanks and the programme was called off by singing the National Anthem. Ms. B. Bhargavi Baliga mastered the ceremony and the programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Sushmitha VS.
