Har Ghar Dastak 2.0

Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda & Hospital Kuthpady Udupi, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Karnataka Bengaluru, National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit in partnership with UNICEF, with kind support of Kadekar Grama Panchayat, SBCC Program was conducted in Kadekar grama Panchayat premises on 28/06/2022 and 29/06/2022 by 90 NSS volunteers of the college. Inauguration of the program was held on 25/06/2022 with the presidentship of Dr. Mamatha K V, Principal, SDMCAU. Mr.Vijaykumar, SBCC District coordinator, Zilla Panchayath Udupi and Dakshina Kannada IIHMR, UNICEF was the chief guest. Dr Jeshma Picardo – Medical officer PHC Malpe, Smt Saraswathi, President, Kadekar Grama Pachayath, Kuthpady, Mr Naveen Shetty, Vice president, Kadekar Grama Panchayath, Kuthpady were the guests of honour. Dr Nagaraj S, Medical Superintendent SDMAH Udupi, Dr Veerakumara K, Dean UG Studies, Dr S R Moharer, Head, Community Service Committee were present on the occasion. NSS Program Officer, Dr. Vidyalakshmi K Coordinated the program with the support of members NSS Unit of the college, Dr. Yogeesha Acharya and Dr. Shrinidhi Dhanya.

Training program

The training program for the NSS volunteers was conducted on 25/06/2022. Mr. Vijaykumar, SBCC District coordinator, Zilla Panchayath Udupi and Dakshina Kannada IIHMR, UNICEF had trained the volunteers on the administrative side of SBCC conduction and Har Ghar Dastak 2.0. Dr.Nagarathna, Associate Professor, Dept of Kaumarabhritya was the resource person on the topic – Routine Immunization; Dr. Chitralekha, Assistant Professor, Dept of Kaumarabhritya was the resource person on the topic – Child Nutrition. Dr. Mahalakshmi M S trained the volunteers about execution of SBCC by the NSS.

Awareness through Door to door visit and Anganwadi visits

Awareness program on Har Ghar Dastak 2.0, Routine Immunization, Child Nutrition through Door to door visit and Anganwadi visits was commenced from the Kadekar Gram Panchayat on 28/06/2022, at 9.30. Dr. Sneha D Mallya, Associate Professor, Dept of Community Medicine initiated the program by waving the green flag. Mr. Siddhesh, PDO, Kadekar Gram Panchayat, Dr S R Moharer, Head, Community Service Committee, NSS Program Officer, Dr.Vidyalakshmi K, members NSS Unit of the college, Dr. Yogeesha Acharya and Dr. Shrinidhi Dhanya and Mahalakshmi M S were present on the occasion. The program was continued for two days on 28/06/2022 and 29/06/2022.

Outcome

Ninety NSS volunteers have given awareness in 6 Angawadi Centers namely Kadekar, Kuthpady, Bobbaryagudde, Kattegudde, Kannarpadi – 2 and Labour Colony Anganwadi Centers. Around 35 parents of the children were being approached by the volunteers. In door to door visit, volunteers have approached around 310 houses and given awareness about Har Ghar Dastak 2.0(Covid – 19 vaccination), Routine Immunization, Child Nutrition.
