Chaya Nidarshana

Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of ayurveda Hospital and Research Centre Kuthpady, Udupi, organized a national level seminar on radiological diagnosis-Chaya nidarshana on 26/6/2025 under the guidance and incomparable support of the department of Roganidana and Vikriti Vijnana in association with IQAC.

The inauguration ceremony took place in Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of ayurveda, Udupi at 9:00 am with the gracious presence of Dr.Muralidhara Sharma, Professor Emeritus, SDMCAH&RC, Udupi; Dr. Niranjan Rao, Vice Principal, SDMCAH&RC Udupi; Dr. Mamatha K V, Principal, SDMCAH&RC Udupi; Dr.Shrikanth P, PG Dean , SDMCAH&RC , Udupi; Dr. Nagaraj S, MS, Prof & HOD, Dept of Roga Nidana.

The Programme started by invoking the blessing of the almighty through prayer by Dr.Namita and Dr.Geethanjali and the welcome address was delivered by Dr.Nagaraj S along with the floral greeting.

Inaugural address was delivered by Dr.Muralidhara Sharma and Dr. Mamatha K V, in her presidential speech highlighted the importance of clinical approach to interpreting X-rays.

The first session was conducted by Dr.Muralidhara Sharma, Professor emeritus, SDM College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research centre,Udupi. He delivered an insightful session on the topic, Chest and abdomen Xrays- ‘Chest to gut-A practical Xray approach’. In this session, Sir emphasized the importance of clinicians having a clear understanding of both the timing and selection of appropriate investigative tools. He underscored the role of chest X-rays as a valuable diagnostic aid, while also acknowledging their limitations. Furthermore, he highlighted that strategically integrating such investigations can significantly enhance the precision and effectiveness of Ayurvedic practice.

Dr.Hemalatha S Shete, Associate professor, KLE University BM Kankanavadi Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belgaum, held the next session on the topic, Spine and joint Xrays-‘Spine to synovium-A clinician’s guide to skeletal X-rays’ where she provided a comprehensive explanation on how to systematically approach and accurately interpret skeletal X-rays.

Another resource person of the event, Dr. Praveen Shastry, MD(RD), DNB (RD) EDIR, DICRI, MNAMS, FAGE, MBA (Healthcare administration), Head of technical and clinical academics-Manipal Health map, provided valuable counsel on the topic, CT Brain interpretation- ‘From bleeds to blocks-a quick guide to CT Brain’. In this insightful session, Sir provided valuable counsel on the practical aspects of interpreting CT brain scans, especially in acute clinical settings. The session was designed to enhance the diagnostic confidence of clinicians when dealing with neurological emergencies.

Dr.Arun Kumar M, Associate Professor, Department of Roganidana and Vikriti Vijnana proposed the vote of thanks for the event. More than 100 across the country beneficiaries, delegates and lecturers attended this programme.

The seminar ended with valedictory ceremony at 05:00PM in the presence of Dr Shrikanth P. P.G. Dean SDMCAH&RC Udupi, Dr. Prashanth K. Dean Administration SDMCAH&RC Udupi; Dr. Praveen Shastry, Head of technical and clinical academics-Manipal Health map; Dr.Hemalatha S Shete, Associate professor, KLE University BM Kankanavadi Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belgaum; Dr Prasanna N Mogasale Professor Department of Roganidana SDMCAH&RC Udupi.

Dr. Nagaraj S, MS, Professor & HOD, Dept of Roga Nidana and Vikriti Vijnana was the chief organising secretary of the event.
