Charaka Prashnaashtaka – National Level Ayurvedic Quiz Competition

Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College & Hospital, Kuthpady, Udupi has organized a National Level Ayurveda Quiz Competition – Charaka Prashnaashtaka in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH, Government of Karnataka, Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad, Karnataka Division and Government Ayurveda Research Center, Mysuru. The inaugural event was held online on 10/08/2021. The program was inaugurated by Dr. B.S. Dinesh Katoch, Advisor, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. He said that the quiz related to the Charaka Samhita is required by the students and will help students to gain the full knowledge of the Charaka Samhita. The other guests at the event, Dr Ashwani Kumar Bhargava, National Secretary General, Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad, said that the Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad had organized several programs for the promotion of Ayurveda and found success in conducting them effectively. The event was attended by Dr. Niranjan Rao, Dean, PG & Ph.D Studies. Speaking on the importance of Charaka Samhita, he said that there are several ways of understanding Charaka Samhita and quiz is one among them. The inaugural event was chaired by Dr. Mamata K.V, Principal, said that the students should develop the habit of reading the Charaka Samhita so that they can understand the true meaning of Samhita which in turn will help them to treat in a better way. Dr. Lakshminarayana Shenoy, Assistant Director, Ayurvedic Research Center, Mysore welcomed the dignitaries. Dr. Vijayendra Bhat, Organizing Secretary, Charaka Prashnaashtaka delivered the vote of thanks. Afterwards, the final round of the quiz was held online. Dr.Chaitra and Dr.Pallavi Hegde, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College & Hospital, Kuthpady, Udupi bagged the 1st Prize, Dr.Shreya Ramakant Satkar and Dr.Dhanashree Baburao Kumbhar of Government Ayurvedic College, Nanded were the first runner up and Dr.Priyanka Jain and Dr.Shweta Mandloi of Pandit Kushilal Sharma Ayurveda College, Bhopal were the second runner up. In the valedictory function, Dr Mita Kotecha, Dean, UG Studies, NIA, Jaipur, announced the name of the winners of quiz competition and congratulated them. She told later, arranging such programs will enhance the practice of reading the Samhita among the students. Dr. Allamaprabhu Gudda, another guest at the event, Organizing secretary, Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad, Karnataka Division, said that the Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad had organized many such programs. Dr. Nagaraj, Medical Superintendent of SDM Ayurveda Hospital, Udupi welcomed and Dr. Lakshminarayana Shenoy, Assistant Director, Ayurvedic Research Center, Mysore delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Arhanth Kumar coordinated the event. Dr. Shrikanth P H, Dr. Yogeesha Acharya, Dr. Nishanth Pai, Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Sandesh Kumar Shetty, Dr. Srinidhi Dhanya, Dr. Sadananda Bhat  contributed to the success of the program.
