Certificate Course on Hands-on Training in OPD-level Panchakarma Procedures
Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College, Hospital and Research Centre, Kuthpady, Udupi, through the PG Department of Panchakarma, organized a Certificate Course on Hands-on Training in OPD-level Panchakarma Procedures from February 5 to 7.
The inaugural programme was held on February 5 under the chairmanship of the Principal, Dr. Mamatha K. V. The Vice-Principal and Head of the Panchakarma Postgraduate Department, Dr. Niranjan Rao, delivered the introductory address. In her presidential speech, Principal Dr. Mamatha K. V. expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, stating, “Thank you sincerely for your patience and for dedicating your valuable time to participate in this workshop. We are truly grateful for your presence”. She further mentioned that such training is usually conducted only at national-level seminars; however, the SDM Institution provides the same standards and quality even in regular hands-on sessions. She emphasized the institution’s strong commitment to quality education and practical training.
The programme was attended by Medical Superintendent Dr. Nagaraj S. and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Deepak S. M. Assistant Professor of the Panchakarma Department, Dr. Manjunath Kanthi, delivered the welcome address, and postgraduate student Dr. Sushmitha compered the programme.
A total of 30 doctors participated in the workshop. The resource persons included Dr. Nishanth Pai, Dr. Ambika Nayak, Dr. Niranjan Rao, Dr. Rajalakshmi M. G., Dr. Padma Kiran C., Dr. Manjunath Kanthi, and Dr. Thulasi T.V.
The valedictory function was held on February 7, with Prof. Emeritus Srinivasa Acharya Hejamadi of the All India Ayurveda Vidyalaya as the Chief Guest. He emphasized that a lifelong learning attitude is essential in a doctor’s professional career. He advised that such scientific and therapeutic skills should not remain limited to training programmes but must be incorporated into daily clinical practice. He also stressed that integrating knowledge with practical experience helps in delivering better patient care. Principal Dr. Mamatha K. V., Head of the Panchakarma Postgraduate Department Dr. Niranjan Rao, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nagaraj S., and Assistant Professor Dr. Manjunath Kanthi were present.
During the ceremony, certificates were distributed to participants and resource persons. Dr. Rajalakshmi M. G. delivered the welcome address, Assistant Professor Dr. Manjunath Kanthi proposed the vote of thanks, and postgraduate student Dr. Nainika compered the programme.
