Udupi, July 30: The Red Ribbon Club of SDM College of Ayurveda, Hospital & Research Centre inaugurated “Samarpanam”, an eight-month series of awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS, on 30 July 2026. The initiative, which will continue until February 2027, aims to create awareness on HIV/AIDS, promote social responsibility, and reduce stigma among students.
The programme was inaugurated under the guidance of Dr. Mamatha K. V., Principal. Dr. Yogesh Acharya, Associate Dean, Youth Red Cross, welcomed the gathering.
As part of the inaugural programme, the Red Ribbon Club, in association with the college NSS Unit, organised an awareness talk on HIV/AIDS, delivered by Mr. Mahabaleshwar. The session highlighted the importance of HIV prevention, early awareness, and eliminating misconceptions and stigma associated with the disease. Students actively participated in the interactive session
Dr. Prithviraj Puranik, Dean – UG Studies, felicitated the chief guest, Mr. Mahabaleshwar, District Coordinator, DAPCU. Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Vidyalakshmi K., Dean – Community Services, inspired students to remain committed to society and actively engage in community welfare initiatives. Among those present were Dr. Srinidhi Dhanya and Dr. Mahalakshmi M. S., members of the Community Services Committee.
The programme was compered by Ms. Sindhu, President of the Student Council, while Mr. Prajwal Varute proposed the vote of thanks. The event marked the beginning of a sustained awareness campaign that will engage students through a series of educational and interactive activities over the next eight months.
