International Day of Yoga – 2026

On 21/6/2026, International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the college under the joint collaboration of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre Udupi’s I.Q.A.C., Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, and National Service Scheme. On the occasion of Yoga Day celebration, a Yoga training camp was organized for the students of the college from 14/6/2026 to 21/6/2026. On the 21st, the program started at 6:00 AM in the morning with the yoga practice of the students.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Dr. Mohammed Rafeeq, Director, Beach Healing Health Center, Hoode, said that yoga is gaining a lot of popularity today and should become everyone’s daily habit. He informed that research has shown that daily yoga practice is helpful in preventing lifestyle diseases. Furthermore, he mentioned that yoga is important for a happy old age. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the institution, Dr. Mamata K.V., in her presidential address, stated that in recent days, Yoga is gaining recognition across the world and all students should adopt the healthy habit of Yoga along with professional education. A yoga dance-drama was performed by the undergraduate students of the institution.
Dr. Vijay B. Negalur, Head of the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, welcomed everyone while explaining the importance of Yoga Day. Post-graduate students Dr. Shwetha and Dr. Rajaratnam compered the program. Dr. Chetana delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Shrikanth P., Dean of the Post Graduate Department of the college, Dr. Yogeesha Acharya, Dr. Sandesh Kumar Shetty, Dr. Srinidhi Dhanya B.S, Dr. Soumya Bhat, Dr. Likhitha and post-graduate students of the Swasthavritta and Yoga Department, and other teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution were present.
