The Alumni association of SDM College of Ayurveda, Kuthpady, Udupi has organised the alumni meet – “Prajyothi -2024” on Sunday 17th November 2024.

On regard to this occasion, a CME was organized on the topic ‘Ayurvedic Management of Skin Diseases in General Practice’ by Alumnus 1994 Batch Dr. Gopikrishna Sriram, VPSV Ayurveda Medical College, Kottakal, Kerala.

The chief guest of the program Sri. D. Harshendra Kumar, Secretary, SDM Educational Society ®, Ujire inaugurated the function by lightning the lamp. The principal Dr. Mamatha KV, Dr. Prasanna N. Rao, Director, SDM Ayurveda Institutions, President of Alumni association Dr. Bharathesh A, Vice president Dr. Narayan T. Anchan, Secretary Dr. Mohammed Iqbal, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nagaraj S were the honourable dignitaries on the dias. The gathering was welcomed by the Vice President Dr. Narayana T Anchan.

As a guest of honour, the Chirantana batch of academic year 1984 -1989 performed Guruvandana to Former Principal Dr. K.R. Ramachandra and Dr. Shridhar Holla, Former Professor of Shareera Rachana Department, SDMCA Udupi. It is followed by the release of Alumni news letter by the chief guest. Later, Dr. Vyasaraj Tantry, member of Alumni association briefed the report of annual activities conducted by Alumni Association.

Felicitation of individual patrons and the senior Alumnis who sponsored Prajyothi 2024 were honoured. The Alumni association sponsored the scholarship to meritorious students. The presidentship for the Alumini Association for the year 2024-26 was handed over to Dr. Shashidhar Kaje, Prashanthi Ayurveda Centre, Puttur.

Chief guest Dr. D. Harshendra Kumar congratulated the institution for securing the prestigious second rank in the QCI ranking conducted by NCISM, New Delhi. He also fondly shared the journey of the SDM Institution in Udupi, Hassan and Bangalore reflecting on their foundations and growth over the years. He emphasized the role of Alumni gathering in rekindling old memories.

Adding to the celebration the Director of SDM Ayurveda Institutions Dr. Prasanna N Rao extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the members of SDM Udupi for their collective effort in securing 2nd rank. He also emphasized the crucial role played by Alumni in achieving this success.

Dr. Bharathesh A, in the presidential speech recollected the personalities behind the development of this institution and praised the efforts of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade to revive the essence of Ayurveda beyond its limits and the purpose of Alumni association to enhance the networking opportunity.

Dr. Mamatha K.V., Principal expressed her gratitude for the accolades and congratulations received from all. She acknowledged support from Management and Alumni in achieving the milestone.

Dr Mohammed Iqbal, Secretary, SDMCA Udupi Alumni Association delivered the vote of thanks and expressed his special gratitude towards the Principal and the Staffs of SDMCA Udupi for the co-operation and successful conduction of the programme. Various cultural programmes were performed by alumni’s. Dr. Rashmi Kalkura compered the programme.
