As a part of 3rd International Yoga Day celebration Department of Swasthavritta have organized varieties of programs from 30th May to 21st June. “Yoga Masa”- from 30-05-2017 to 21-06-2017 - camp for public with the collaboration of SDM College of Yoga and Naturopathy, Ujire. Conducted different competitions like Yoga dance competition, Yoga demonstration competition and article writing competition on 14-06-2017.“Yoga saptaha” – 1 week Yoga camp in college and visited 3 schools namely St Francis Xavier High School, Udyavara, Hindu Higher Primary School, Udyavara and Kuthpadi Higher Primary School, Kuthpadi from 15-06-2017 to 21-06-2017. On 21st June mass yoga practice followed by guest speech by Mrs Roopa Ballal, Yoga Teacher, Syndicate training school, Manipal.
Our College celebrated its annual Day on 21st January, 2017 in Bhavaprakasha Auditorium at 9:30 am. Dr.M.Mohan Alva, President, Alvas education Foundation– Moodabidri graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr Shrikanth U, Principal, Dr.Muralidhara Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda Hospital udupi, ,Shri Subramanya Bhat,Student welfare Dean, were the other dignitaries present. Kumari Nityshri K welcomed the gathering and also introduced the Chief Guest Dr.M.Mohan Alva to the audience. The annual report of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College,Udupi. showcasing the activities of the Institution over the last one year, was presented by the Dr. Muralidhara Sharma, Medical Superintendent. In his address, Dr.M.Mohan Alva spoke about the major challenges of students during their Medical studies. He told that the institute not only provides the technical knowledge but also builds in the students a scientific mind and a sense of rational questioning and also shared his experiences of this College during his Graduation. He also motivated the students to organize themselves to be a fruitful citizen and to give the best to the society. He appreciated the institution for giving such a quality technical education and he ended his speech by congratulating all the prize winners. Students who have achieved excellence in co-curricular and sporting activities were awarded on this occasion and was convened by Dr.Seema M.B and Dr.Vidya Ballal . Mr.lekhan K.G , Secretary, Student sports council addressed the activities and events of the council for past one year. Dr.leenu C.B , Student council representative read the wishes from the honorable president Padmavibhushana Dr.D.Veerendra heggadeji, Prof.S.Prabhakar, Vice President, Shri.D.Harshendra Kumar, Secretary, Dr.B.Yashovarma, Secreatry, SDM Education Society. Mr. Kasturirangan, Secretary, Student Council delivered the vote of thanks. The stage was then set for a variety of entertainment programs by the students. The cultural activities began with a Classical Dance performance as a medium of expression of prayer.
Swacch Bharath Program was conducted as a part of Swacch Bharath Abhiyan drive. The event was held on 23/11/16 at 3pm in SDM Ayurveda College campus by Youth Red Cross wing and NSS wing of the college. Dr. Muralidhara Sharma, Medical Superintendent inaugurated the program addressing the gathering. Volunteers from 1st year BAMS participated actively in the program. Dr. Shrilatha Kamath, Program officer, Youth Red Cross and Chairman of Extracurricular committee, Dr. Vidyalakshmi, Program officer NSS, Dr. Sudheendra Honwad, Dr. Aniruddha and Dr. Yogeesh Coordinators of the committee, post graduate scholars Dr Leenu and Dr Venkatesh, members Ms. Kanakalaxmi and Ms Ananya cooperated in the smooth conduction.
On 4th of November Shishopanayana Samskara was held marking the start of new batch of Undergraduate as well as Post graduates at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College & Hospital, Udupi. The Gathering was welcomed by Dr. Mamatha K.V Professor, Department of Prasooti tantra & Stree Roga . Speaking on this occasion Chief Guest Prof.Madhur Mohana Kalluraya, Retd Professor, Shri Mahaveera College, Moodabidri explained the duties of the student in path of gaining knowledge from the teacher. He also called upon the qualities expected in students. Dr.Shrikanth U, Principal of the college in his presidential address spoke about how students can shape their future and become successful. Shri Subhramanya Bhat, Associate Professor of department of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddanta administered the oath to the new batch students. Vote of thanks was given by Dr.Rajalakshmi, Associate Professor, department of Panchakarma. The Program was anchored by Dr.Ravindra Angadi & Dr.Harshita, and the whole program was Supervised by Dr.Prabhakar Upadhyaya Renjal, Professor & Head, Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana.
It is only befitting that the most loved teachers of the institute be thanked for their service to education on the birth anniversary of the most distinguished teacher in the history of India. The institute conveyed its gratitude for the distinguished teacher who dedicated her working life to teaching on campus. Dr.Shripathi Kinnikambala & Dr.N.T Anchan said it is because of teachers like Dr.Sunanda Pai that SDM College of Ayurveda has achieved the stature it holds today. The eve of 14th August, 2016 saw faculty, students coming together to show their respect of 70th Independence day in the form of a candle march in remembrance of the martyrs of freedom fight . The candle march began at 7p.m from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda College, Udupi in which more than 200 students joined the march where all the students took up candles and walked around the premises singing various patriotic songs. This was in the memory of all the freedom fighters who pledged their life for their country as well as those unnamed soldiers without whose support independent India would still be a distant dream. The name “India” drawn on the stage was illuminated by candles in front of Lord Dhanwantari, signifying the independent unified India. The march was attended by Dr.Muralidhara Sharma, Medical superintendent of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda Hospital, Udupi , Dr.B.Ravishankar, Research Director, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Research Center, Dr.Muralidhara ballal, General manager, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda Pharmacy, Dr.Seema M.B, Convener of the Cultural Committee, Shri. Shrinivasa Hegde. Manager, SDM Hospital and other staffs of College and Hospital.
Department of Dravyagunavijnana in association with National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of our institution organised Surapala Saptaha in connection with Vanamahotsava 2016, by plantation of medicinal plants in herbal garden for one week from 13th to 19th July 2016 . All the head of the departments, staff members, Undergraduates, Postgraduate scholars and the internees took active participation by planting medicinal plants. Sri Ramesh Poojary President GIANTS Udupi, Sri Madhusudan Herur Ex President GIANTS Udupi, Sri Anand Secretary GIANTS Udupi were the chief guest for Vanamahotsava program on19th July. Principal Dr.Shrikanth. U inaugurated the program by planting Neem plant in Nimba vana. A total of 245 medicinal plants especially useful for various Panchakarma procedures were planted in Saptavana (7 gardens) during Surapala saptaha.

She joined this college 22 years ago however, it never known to us that how this big time has passed with her happily. It is her hard work and commitment towards her duty made what she is today. On this occasion Dr.Nagaraj Poojary Prof & Head, Department of Roganidana, SDMCA, Udupi shared his experiences and said that She was like a pillar in this college who always helped us and college activities with her strategic suggestions. Dr.Shreekanth U, Principal, SDMCA, Udupi spoke on this occasion admired about her activeness and good energy level in the academic and other activities and he also said it is impossible to hold the time and wished all the very best for the rest of life. One of her post graduate students Dr.Shrilaxmi said that she was like the maker of future to the students. Dr.Kavya tyagarajan, internee, said she will be missed by us and students forever. Miss meghana, Second year BAMS student shared her experiences and said Of-course she has been a part of the lifeblood of this college.
1st July 2016 a cloudy day, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda Hospital celebrated Doctors Day. This Day was intended to recognize the contributions of physicians to individual lives and communities. This event was organized by staff’s of our Hospital. Dr.Shrikanth. U, Chief Medical Officer, SDM Ayurveda Hospital, Udupi spoke about importance and responsibilities of the doctors as well as to promote Health Care and follow the responsibilities of their profession . Dr.Muralidhar Sharma, Medical Superintendent, SDM Ayurveda Hospital, Udupi was present. Dr.Shridhar Holla, coordinator, HRD & Documentation spoke about the day and said It is very important to understand the significant roles and responsibilities of the doctors, this annual celebration should helps common public to get aware about the roles, importance and the precious care of the doctors.
World environment day 2016 was celebrated on June 10,2016 as a part of the Vagbhata Saptaha which is conducted to pay our respect to Acharya Vagbhata who is author of “Ashtanga hridaya” one of three important scriptures in Ayurveda. On this occasion Dr.N.A.Madhyastha, Rtd Principal, Poornaprajna College, udupi was the chief guest who spoke about the protection of the environment and species as essential factor for the survival of the mankind.Dr.Shrikanth U, Principal, SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi, Dr.B.R.Doddamani, Dean, Asst P.G Dean, SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi, Dr.Shridhar Bairy, Head of the dept Dravyaguna, SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi were present.
